We moved to Colorado twenty years ago and purchased Brassy(Tosaig Brass Band) from Nancy Cassel (Tosaig Cairns), a great mentor from whom I learned to show and quickly became hooked.

JP and Brassy

Brassy, now spayed, went to live with my parents in Rhode Island and lived to age 16.

My second Cairn terrier, also from Nancy, was Sig (Ch. Tosaig Merriwynd Signature), a little red dog who finished very quickly. Sig went back east to become my dad's constant companion and lived to age 14.

My husband, John, and two sons, JP and David, helped me socialize numerous puppies and interview many potential families. Their keen intuition helped me make good decisions when placing a puppy. When David was about ten, he dutifully told every potential inquirer that we didn't have puppies but encouraged them to call next year. (Of course, David would be cuddling the latest puppy in his arms.)

Often, as I continued to show dogs, John became the sole caregiver of puppies . Raising puppies is a family affair and my family continues to provide a positive environment for that purpose.

About seven years ago, I saw a picture of a lovely bitch, Ch. Ragtime's Ain't She Sweet, owned by Kathleen Spelman. I wanted one of her puppies and waited several years for Christy-- well worth it! Christy was a wonderful show dog with a winning personality. I've discovered that showing fosters reationships with both Cairns and humans. I have never stopped learning about Cairn terriers, and indeed they have taught me many things.

Kaitlen's Hot and Spicy

Kathy Wishart, with profound commitment to breeding for beauty, health, and temperament, lovingly hand-raises her Cairn terriers with positive reinforcement, recreation, and affection.

Today, even as the Wishart family has grown up, the nurturing environment in which puppies are raised remains constant.
